A Journey of Healing

Updated: Jul 23

Loss, Shock, and Survival

The day we experienced the significant loss, time seemed to freeze. My heart broke in ways I couldn’t articulate, yet I had to be steady—for my child, whose innocent eyes searched mine for answers. Grieving while parenting is an act of quiet heroism. I didn't have all the answers, but I gave my son space to ask questions, feel deeply, and hold memories close.

During such difficult time, we all grieve in our own unique ways. Children may not understand exactly what is transpiring but they definitely feel the difference, the change that has occurred, the emptiness. Children may not know how to articulate but they certainly will have questions. It may be difficult but it's important to create spaces for their minds to run free and ask. While we can't shield them from sorrow, we can give them tools to face it.

If you know a child who's asking questions with their eyes rather than their words, start with a picture book.

You Are Not Alone.
